ReMapPro Version 2.7Date: June 26, 2006 Labtam is pleased to present a new software update for ReMapPro, now Version 2.7. It is the first major release for the 2006 year. The main utility, the Comport, is included in the ReMapPro package which makes serial (RS232) data from your PC available on TCP/IP-based networks and makes TCP/IP data available on serial ports on your PC. This makes it possible for any other computer on the same network to send and receive serial data through a remote serial port on the PC where the Comport is running. You can connect to the remote serial port by connecting to a TCP/IP port. The Comport can also be used to pass the serial data across a corporate intranet or over the Internet. The Comport allows multiple sessions to run simultaneously but each with a different serial port. The Comport supports full two-way I/O for full control of serial instruments (i.e. any instrument that you can plug into the serial port (RS232, RS422 or RS485) of your PC). Typical devices include most serial devices like gauges, scales and balances, sensors, micrometers, calipers, bar code scanners, densitometers, laboratory instruments, electronic balance or electronic measuring instrument, RF equipment, communication systems, etc... NOTES on this release (PLEASE READ): 1) Use the "setup -wauto -s" command line (instead of "setup -auto") to start the "Silent Installation"! New Features on this release include: 1. Comport and Comserv:
2. Virtual COM port Driver:
The following bugs have been fixed: 1. Comport and Comserv :
Undocumented Features 1. Comport and Comserv:
Behavior of Comport/Comserv for these modes is implemented according to the MSDN Library, i.e., the following flags are set up after opening a COM-port:
- fInX, fOutX, fOutXDsrFlow, and fOutXCtsFlow are all set to FALSE
- fDtrControl is set to DTR_CONTROL_ENABLE - fRtsControl is set to RTS_CONTROL_ENABLE. To select the mode for the RTS flow control behavior (if "Flow control" in the Serial Setting is set to "None"), the "RtsControlForNone=..." line can be inserted into the "[COMPORT]" and/or "[COMSERV]" section of the "xwp.ini" file (that is in the home directory of the package). The "RtsControlForNone=..." setting provides the following modes:
- RtsControlForNone=0
With this setting, flag fRtsControl is set to RTS_CONTROL_DISABLE after opening a COM-port. RTS_CONTROL_DISABLE disables the RTS line when the device is opened and leaves it disabled.
- RtsControlForNone=1
With this setting or if this line is absent, the software works as in the previous version, i.e. flag fRtsControl is set to RTS_CONTROL_ENABLE after opening a COM-port. RTS_CONTROL_ENABLE enables the RTS line when the device is opened and leaves it on.
- RtsControlForNone=2
This setting makes "GetCommState" before "SetCommState" without changing parameter "PortDCB.fRtsControl" for RTS flow control.
To take the mode into effect, you should do the following: - Stop port mapping
- Select the mode of your choice - Start port mapping again Known problems 1. Virtual COM port Driver under Win9x:
